Cyworld

(SK Communications 2006-2010)

Intro

Cyworld is a social network platform with 27 million users, which was the most popular SNS in South Korea in 2006. This was before MySpace and Facebook was popular in US. It was a bliss to be given an opportunity to design a service that had significant users on the very first job. It was truly electrifying, knowing that half of Korea would be using my designes. I learned that even a small UX improvement can make a difference to the users making their lives easier and adding joy to their experience. It made me realize the importance of user experience and developed passion for the work that I was doing. I was at Cyworld for five years and renewed 2 big projects. Given the large and diverse users, I learned how to analyze user data and took data-driven approach to plan renewals. In addition, I spent 2 years managing photo album feature and launched photo editor feature.
